There are still many concerns to the life of human being. Thus, the organizations in the world have created different activities focusing on saving life.

The previous two days at our clinic, the training on Helping Babies Breathe has been held for twelve participants who come from hospital and villages. The training was granted by Global Community Services Foundation in VA, USA, and four nurses from Chicago, Illinois, USA.  Helping Babies Breathe®,The Golden Minute®, focuses on the first minute of a baby’s life.  The nurses are HBB Master Trainers who came from Chicago to offer practical and knowledgeable guidance on helping the babies in first golden minute of life. All the participants were very enthusiastic to learn and practice. The lessons and practice are useful to carry into the villages and remove areas where many babies are born at home as they do not have easy to access medical care and services.

A Retreat for Volunteers

Hue, March 7, 2015
Starting from Friday March 6th to Saturday March 7th, 2015, the volunteers of the Patient Care and Communications Groups in the HIV/AIDS Outreach Program took part in a retreat at the Mother of Sao Bien Retreat Center run by the Daughters of St. Paul of Chartres in Da Nang City. It was an occasion for the volunteers to step back and reflect on their commitment of accompanying AIDS patients and people living with HIV in the journey through life.
After some time spent on getting to know one another, the retreat participants introduced themselves to the Holy Presence through the Eucharistic Adoration Service, in which they presented to God their cares, concerns as well as the anguish and sufferings of the patients.

The Workshop for Caregivers on Counseling skills

A Reflection on the Experience of Participating in the Workshop for Caregivers of People Living With HIV (Held at Kim Long Charity Clinic from

January 17 to January 18, 2015)

This is my first time to take part in the workshop on developing counseling skills for caregivers of people living with HIV.  The workshop was led by Mrs. Therese Khuyen Thi Doan. Therese is head of the Social Work Team of Caritas Hai Phong. She is also the director of a local organization known as STC (Sống Tích Cực or Positive Living) as well as a consultant for the Viet-Tiep Hospital and Pediatric Hospital in Hai Phong. More importantly, Therese has been living with HIV for 10 years and has overcome one of the darkest moments of her life through strength of faith and awareness of God’s love. When she learned of her HIV-positive status and her husband dying of AIDS, she was shocked and found herself in grief. One day, while being overwhelmed with despair, she experienced a stream of light coming from the image of the Face of Jesus crowned in thorns. This light helped her overcome despair and has allowed her to live her life in a meaningful way to this day.

Letter to Benefactors

"In truth I tell you, in so far as you did this to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did it to me." (Mt 25:40)

With Gratitude…

Kim Long Charity Clinic - Phòng Khám Từ Thiện 36 Kim Long – has become a familiar place of visit for the poor living in the greater Hue area.
Our history goes back to more than twenty years, when Kim Long Charity Clinic was opened on November 11th, 1992. It was a challenging time for many poor people residing in the metropolitan Hue. Most of them could not afford the rising costs of medical care. Thanks to the spiritual support and encouragement of the then Archbishop of Hue along with the great collaborations coming from the Carmelite Sisters, Kim Long Charity Clinic was founded by the Sisters of the Daughters of Mary Immaculate (FMI). Two FMI Sisters with medical trainings, Sister Mary Consolata Bui Thi Bong and Sister Mary Benedictine Nguyen Thi Dien, were put in charge of the clinic from the start. Placed under the patronage of Saint Martin of Tours - the holy Bishop who slashed his lovely mantle and handed half of it to the freezing and naked beggar man on the street - Kim Long Charity Clinic aims at serving the poor and the needy, whose meager economic means often prevent them from receiving proper medical treatments.

Training on comprehensive care skills for two Self-Help Groups: Faith and Love at Kim Long Charity Clinic.

Hue, August 26, 2014

From August 23 to 25, 2014, the Kim Long Charity Clinic organized a workshop and training on comprehensive care skills for 33 PLHIV from two Self-Help Groups: Love Club and Faith Group. The Love Club, which includes 16 members, is from Quang Tri Province. The other 17 participants, who are from Hue, belong to the Faith Group.

On the first full day, Medical Doctor Nguyen Lo, Ph.D. offered training on physical care. Dr. Lo is a specialist in the HIV/AIDS Department of Hue Central Hospital. He has accompanied many PLHIV, who we call “Friends,” for a long time and has very good experience in providing healthcare and psychological treatment for PLHIV and AIDS patients. The trainees received very helpful and effective instructions for their self-care and for the care of their children and friends as well. Most of them were touched by Dr. Lo’s knowledge and the ways in which he expressed his compassion and love for our “Friends”.

HIV/AIDS "Getting to Zero Discrimination:

Response of the Kim Long Charity Clinic to “Getting to Zero Discrimination”.

HIV-related stigma and discrimination is a major barrier to achieving universal access to treatment, care and education for people living with HIV (PLHIV) in Hue and Quang Tri Provinces in Vietnam. The prospect of being perceived as a threat to others has prevented many people living with HIV/AIDS from disclosing their status. They have become isolated within their communities, schools and workplaces due to social perceptions concerning risky behaviors.
